Buffalo needed QB3 after an injury in the preseason game against Chicago.

Well, forget what I said about Matt Barkley. The Buffalo Bills signed Ben DiNucci, per his agency JL Sports.

The Bills needed to urgently sign a third quarterback after Shane Buechele was reported to have suffered a neck injury in Saturday’s preseason game.

With Buechele out and Mitch Trubisky excused for personal reasons, Josh Allen was the only available quarterback at Monday’s practice.

Now, it’s time for DiNucci to join the QB room.

He played at the University of Pittsburgh for 2016-17 and James Madison University 2018-19 before being selected by Dallas in the seventh round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

The Gibsonis, PA native played in three games for the Cowboys in 2020 where he was 22-for-43 with 219 receiving yards and seven sacks. He had six carries for 22 yards, two first-downs and a fumble.

He was a practice/offseason player for the Broncos in 2023 after joining the XFL, but was released by the Broncos in May of this year.

DiNucci was a member of the Seattle Sea Dragons and was the XFL passing yards leader.

In 10 games with the Sea Dragons he was 242-for-374 with 2,671 passing yards and 20 touchdowns. He also added 305 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the regular season.

The 27-year old will add depth to the QB room and ease the anxieties of only having one back-up quarterback.
