While there was speculation about Josh Allen hitting the gridiron for the Buffalo Bills’ preseason game Saturday, head coach Sean McDermott confirmed that starters will play for about a quarter against Chicago.

This comes after Bears head coach, Matt Eberflus, told the NFL Network that Caleb Williams will get some reps at Highmark Stadium.

McDermott will be evaluating whether Allen plays in the next couple of preseason games on a week-to-week basis and expressed that since there are only three preseason games, it’s important to see the new players in an actual game.

“Hard to simulate the speed of the game and so getting that in preseason is important,” said McDermott.

There’ll be about three quarters for coaches and fans to be able to evaluate the newcomers on the roster and watch players show out for a spot on the final roster. And of course, there’s the chance that one of the Bills’ defensive starters gives Caleb Williams his “welcome to the NFL” moment.
