Buffalo Bills Tuesday Morning Roster Moves
There were multiple roster moves on Tuesday morning as the Bills signed two wide receivers and a quarterback, while also placing a QB and receiver on injured reserve.
Quarterback Ben DiNucci was signed to take over the third-string spot while Shane Buechele recovers from his neck injury.
Wide receiver Chase Claypool, who was originally day-to-day with a toe injury, was placed on IR. Receivers Daimere Byrd and Deon Cain were signed to one year deals.
Claypool has been out since July 28, and yet to participate in a fully-padded practice. Due to a new league rule that only allows two injured players on the 53-man roster, which needs to be designated by Aug. 27, if Claypool remains on IR and there is not an injury settlement, he’d miss this season.
Bryan Thompson was waived/injured.
Daimere Byrd and eight seasons under his belt. His first four seasons were with the Carolina Panthers (2015-18), then the Cardinals (2019), Patriots (2020), Bears (2021) and Falcons (2022-23). He had a career-high 47 catches and 604 yards with New England.
Deon Cain was the Colts’ sixth round pick in 2018 and spent his first two seasons there. He then went on to have stints with the Steelers, Ravens and Eagles.
Cain was a member of the UFL’s Birmingham Stallions championship team this year. He started all 10 games and had 33 catches for 436 yards and three touchdowns.
In 15 career NFL games between the Colts and Steelers, he’s managed nine catches for 124 yards.
DiNucci has appeared in three NFL games for the Cowboys and was 23-for-43 with 219 yards. He played two seasons at the University of Pittsburgh and two years at James Madison University.
