Sports Analyst Blames Buffalo For Donald Trump Presidency
We've heard this saying repeatedly, and it seems that no matter where you turn, you can find a connection to Buffalo in just about everything. Think about it: Western New York is a great place to live, and its reach goes far and wide.
From wings being a favorite food nationwide to the hallowed hallways of Washington D.C., Buffalo is America, and America is Buffalo. Often, that's a good thing, but sometimes, it's not so good.
At least, that's what one sports analyst is saying when it comes to the President of the United States and his connection to the 716.
Sports Analyst Blames Buffalo For Donald Trump's Presidency
Donald Trump has the unique legacy of being only the second man in American history to have been elected to two non-consecutive terms as the Chief Executive. As the 45th and 47th President of the United States, Mr. Trump has achieved a feat that has only been done by 45 people. However, there is one feat that Mr. Trump tried to accomplish, that has an even smaller pool of achievement that he couldn't do, and sports analyst Stephen A. Smith says it's all Buffalo's fault!
While appearing on Bill Maher's Club Random podcast, Stephen A. had a very interesting take on what led Donald Trump to the Presidency.
He [Donald Trump] had about $1.1 billion. I was being told he wasn’t gonna get the team... He [Trump] said, ‘Stephen A., if these mother———- get in my way’ — talking about the NFL owners — ‘I’m gonna get them all back. I’m gonna run for president.'
-Stephen A. Smith
The Washington Times provides more context on this idea. If you remember back to 2014 when the Buffalo Bills were for sale, and rich folks rushed into Western New York to make an offer for the team, Mr. Trump was among a group of people looking to spend more than $1 billion for the Bills.
The Wilsons ultimately rejected his purchase offer for the team, which went to Terry Pegula. This, it seems, left Mr. Trump free to pursue the White House. I guess that means, if Buffalo accepted The Donald, the last 11 years in America would've looked a whole lot different.
It seems there is always a Buffalo connection.
