Here is a look at what is happening around Western New York today.

1-Today’s weather is going to be simple, cold and cold. We are only looking at a high near 35 with some light snow flurries. We won’t see those huge snowflakes like we did yesterday but some places could get a dusting of snow. A major artic blast is coming through the area tonight and into the weekend where we will see temperatures drop into the teens by Sunday.

2- if you are headed to the Bills home game on Sunday you are going to want to make sure you dress warm. The kickoff was flexed from 1 pm until 4:25 pm and sunset for Sunday in Orchard Park is 4:44 pm that means for most of the game the sun won’t be there to warm you up. The temp at kickoff should be around 15 degrees.

3- Josh Allen was once again named the AFC offensive player of the week. Allen has won the award after he completed 23 of 34 passes for 362 yards, two touchdowns and no interceptions, while rushing for two more scores and 68 yards against the Lions. He is the favorite the win the NFL MVP this year and he said he is having fun on the field. (audio) The Bills host the Patriots this Sunday at Highmark Stadium with kickoff set for 4:25 pm.

4- No one claimed the grand prize from the Powerball last night, but the New York State Lottery announced there was one “Big Money” winning ticket sold in New York. That ticket matched four out of five numbers and also had the Powerball and won $50,000. It was the 6th “Big Money” winning Powerball ticket sold in New York in the past seven days.

5 – Tonight will be the final broadcast for TV legend Don Postles. He is set to retire from WIVB Channel four after anchoring the news. Postles has been a staple in Western New York TV, being the only news personality to anchor at all three local TV stations. He has spent the past 32 years working at WIVB Channel 4.
