1 – The Polar Vortex is taking a small trip south and that means it will be very cold across Western New York. We are looking at highs in only the 20s this week. The good news is that the snow will be light and scattered and only places in the 716 will get a dusting if any snow at all. Today’s high is only expected to be around 27.
2 - The Buffalo Bills now know who they will face in the opening round of the NFL playoffs. As the #2 seed, they will host the #7 seed Denver Broncos with rookie QB Bo Nix, which is good news for the Bills. Head Coach Sean McDermott has never lost to a rookie quarterback in the playoffs and has a career record of 11-4 against rookie QBs. Sunday’s playoff game is set for 1 p.m. at Highmark Stadium and will be shown locally on WIVB, Channel 4.
3-Firefighters continue to investigate another fire that burned down an iconic Buffalo bar. Just weeks after a fire destroyed the “Old Pink” firefighters were called to Mulligan’s Brick Bar over the weekend after smoke was spotted coming from the building. The fire did over $2 million dollars in damage and fire crews continue to investigate the cause of that blaze.
4- A Super Bowl Fan Fest is coming to Buffalo. Verizon is set to host a special Super Bowl party and Fan Fest on Super Bowl Sunday at Buffalo Riverworks. Verizon’s Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer, Leslie Berland said there will be something for everyone at the event. 5-The Buffalo Sabres return home tonight to KeyBank Center after a tough stretch on the road. The Sabres lost their last three games and will look to get back into the win column tonight against The Washington Capitals. Puck drop is set for 7 pm tonight.
