Seven months into the year, the sales of private residences that went for more than $1 million in Erie County continue to move on a record pace.

In the latest deals - both filed July 31 in the Erie County Clerk's office, two northern suburban homes crossed the $1 million sales threshold, giving Erie County 40 such private residences this year that went for more than $1 million.

If the trend continues, Ernie County could see more than 60 homes sell for more than $1 million this year, surpassing the record 56 $1 million-plus home sales reported last year in the county.

The deals:
• Syed and Sadia Ahmed paid $1.835 million for a four-bedroom, ranch-style house at 4730 Thompson Road in Clarence. The 14-year-old house had been owned by Erik Mehmet.
• On Grand Island, a four-bedroom house at 2420 East River Road sold for $1.1 million with Joseph Chadma III and his wife, Jody Chadma, buying the home from Robert and Annmarie Schneider. The 3,733-square-foot house was built in 1986.

Homes selling for more than $1 million are considered a key economic benchmark within the Buffalo Niagara region’s residential real estate industry.
