Buffalo has had a big struggle with affordable housing; in fact, Western New York needs thousands of new affordable housing units to be able to keep up with the demand. More apartments are on the way to meet part of that demand, according to the Buffalo News.

A long-abandoned and deteriorating former bowling alley on the edge of the former Buffalo Central Park is on the verge of getting some new life when Regan Development Corp. of Ardsley completes a $26 million redevelopment of the sprawling complex.

The soon-to-be new Amherst Commons Apartments will feature more than 130 new income-affordable apartments on the more than 3-acre site. Once the work starts, it'll take around 2 years to complete.
