The Tool Library Inc. has turned what had been a new leased location into a permanent home.

The 501(c)3 non-profit organization has officially bought its headquarters and home base location, paying $485,000 for the two-story building at 2626 Main Street in Buffalo’s Central Park neighborhood.

Vernon Triangle LLC had owned the 7,500-square-foot circa 1900-era building, according to documents filed in the Erie County Clerk's office on Sept. 26.

Funds came from a $1 million capital campaign run by the Tool Library.

Founded in 2011 and becoming a 501(c)3 in 2018, the Tool Library rents low-cost items from its 4,400-tool inventory to its more than 1,195 active members—all under its “real sharing economy” model.

Most items are rented for one day, on average.
