Trick or Treat: Halloween Times for Western New York Towns
The best kid holiday of the year is this week! Hopefully all the costumes are ready and the bags of candy have been picked up for this year’s Halloween haul.
But when should you turn the porch lights on if you’re staying in? And when can trick-or-treating begin in your community?
Fear not! Here are all the answers:
- Amherst: 6-8 p.m.
- Barker: 5-7 p.m.
- Buffalo: Curfew of 8 p.m.
- Clarence: 5-8 p.m.
- Depew: 6-8:30 p.m.
- East Aurora: 5:30-8:30 p.m.
- Eden: 6-8 p.m.
- Fredonia (village): 4:30-8 p.m.
- Jamestown: 6-8 p.m.
- Lancaster: 6-8 p.m.
- Lockport: 5-7 p.m.
- Lyndonville: 6-8 p.m.
- Medina: 5:30-7:30 p.m.
- Middleport: 5-7 p.m.
- Newfane: 4-7 p.m.
- North Tonawanda: 5-8 p.m.
- Olean: 6-8 p.m.
- Orchard Park: 6-8 p.m.
- Salamanca: 6-8 p.m.
- Sloan: 6-8 p.m.
- Town of Tonawanda: 5:30-8 p.m.
- West Seneca: 6-8 p.m.
- Wheatfield: 4-8 p.m.
- Williamsville: 6-8 p.m.
- Wilson (village): 4-7 p.m.
- Youngstown: 4-7 p.m.
Keep in mind the importance of watching carefully for kids when you’re driving yours around! It’s getting darker earlier, and we’ll be losing light across WNY while trick-or-treating is happening, so drive with caution. Parents, make sure your kids are also watching for cars and not darting out into the street between houses. If they don’t want to wear reflective tape on their costumes, consider putting that tape on their plastic pumpkins or candy bags to help boost visibility.
And don’t fall for the social media scares: It’s important to check your kids’ candy for anything that might not be safe for them, but odds are higher you’d find something to which they are allergic than you will any drugs, razors, or other things that get posted on social media after a fun night out.
Take all candy concerns with a grain of salt and make your own judgment!
