Here is a look at what's happening today around Western New York
1 –We have another day of cold winter-like weather across the 716. Today high will be around 48 with some scattered showers and light snow in the Southern Tier. The cold continues overnight as well and parts of Western New York are under a Frost Advisory from 8 pm tonight until 10 am on Thursday. A warm front will bring much warmer weather tomorrow afternoon into the weekend and early next week. We could see a high near 70 on Monday and Tuesday.
2 – It was a double victory Tuesday for the Buffalo Bills yesterday. On top of celebrating their Monday Night Football win, the team announced that they traded for All-Pro wide receiver Amari Cooper. Cooper has 24 catches so far this season for 250 yards and two touchdowns. Bills Head Coach Sean McDermott said Cooper will add a lot of value to the team. Cooper is expected to play Sunday’s game against the Tennessee Titans.
3 – For the first time since 2006, residents of Buffalo are waking up to a new Mayor. Former Mayor Bryon Brown officially stepped down as Mayor yesterday. Acting Mayor Chris Scanlon Told WVIB that he has no plans to make major changes in city personnel. Scanlon will be the acting Mayor of Buffalo through 2025.

4 – Today is a great day to join the Girl Scouts of Western New York as they are holding a special Join-A-Thon. Girls who join today between 8 am and 8 pm will get a special Join-A-Thon badge and also be in the running to be selected for a special Build-A-Bear party. Girl Scouts of WNY CEO Cara Bittlecom said there are plenty of reasons to join. The Girls Scouts of Western New York serves the nine counties of Cattaraugus, Chautauqua, Erie, Genesee, Livingston, Monroe, Niagara, Orleans, and Wyoming.
5- The next time you head to see a Buffalo Sabres game you will see a new fluffy face. The Sabres announced that Audie is the newest team pup for the 2024-25 season. Audie is training to be a service dog for a service member in need with WNY Heroes. Audie will be at home games and select events throughout the season before joining with her new owner. Audie is the 4th dog to be part of this training program with the Buffalo Sabres.
6- Josh Allen was recently named one of the Sexiest quarterbacks in the NFL but the Buffalo Bills did him dirty with a recent photo they posted on Social media. This photo would be one of the worst ones of Allen as it turns him from a leading man heartthrob into a comedic sidekick. You can check out the photo for yourself using our app.
