Western New York’s Trending Stories: Thursday Edition

Here is a look at some of the top headlines in Western New York for Thursday.

1 – Now is the time to get all your winter gear ready to go, snow is on the way to Western New York. In fact, there is a winter weather advisory in place for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties starting tonight at 6 pm until Noon tomorrow. We will see several inches of snow in the Southern Tier with a mix of rain and snow for much of Western New York. It will be a sloppy day today and heading into the weekend.

2 -The Buffalo Sabres kicked off their 3-game West Coast road trip with a win over the LA Kings last night All the Sabres needed was a powerplay goal from Jason Zucker to claim a 1-0 win. Up next for the Sabres is a trip to Anaheim to take on the Ducks tomorrow night.

3 – The Buffalo Bills have another player of the week winner. Terell Bernard was named the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after his play in the win over Kansas City. Bernard has 3 tackles, 5 assists, one sack, and one interception in the 30-21 win. Bernard joins Tyler Bass, Keon Coleman, Ray Davis, and Josh Allen who have won Player of the Week awards so far this year.

4 – Depending on the weather, you might be able to see a rocket ship in the sky above Western New York tonight. Space Labs is set to launch a new rocket tonight around 7:45 pm and it could be visible in Western New York about 3 minutes after takeoff. 5 – The Goo Goo Dolls are coming back to Buffalo. The band will be bringing their Summer Anthem tour to KeyBank Center on August 9^th, 2025. 6 - There is another recall Wegmans shoppers need to be aware of. Earlier this organic carrots sold at the grocery store were recalled and now the company has issued a recall for Wegmans brand yogurt. The recall is due to possible plastic contamination. You can return the yogurt to the service desk at any area Wegmans for a full refund.

7 – Tis the season to help your neighbors in need and now through December 15^th, you can make a donation of a non-perishable food item at several locations across Western New York as part of our Cans for Christmas donation drive.
