What’s Happening In Western New York: Monday Edition
Here is what's happening around Western New York for your Monday.
1 – A cool, windy, and wet Monday is on tap for Western New York. We will start off dry and then a cold front will bring cool temps this afternoon along with windy conditions and scattered rain. We could even see some wet snow in the Southern Tier overnight. We are looking at a high near 53.
2 – The Buffalo Bills extended their lead in the AFC East with a 30-20 win over the Colts yesterday afternoon. The Bills are now 8-2 on the season and hold 5-game lead over the Jets and Patriots for the AFC East title. The Bills did suffer a loss in yesterday’s win. Tight End Dalton Kincaid suffered a knee injury. No word yet if Kincaid will miss the Bills next game. They are at home against the undefeated Chiefs on Sunday with kickoff set for 4:25 pm.
3 – Today is Veterans Day and we want to thank all the Veterans in Western New York for their service. Many people have the day off from work and schools are off today as well, and there are plenty of events happening around Western New York to celebrate. There will be a flag retirement ceremony along with a Veteran’s Day celebration at the Buffalo and Erie County Naval Park today at 10 am. The Town of Evans will be holding a tribute to all veterans at 9:30 this morning, and the towns of Hamburg, Orchard Park, and Clarence are all holding special ceremonies to say thanks.
4 – Officials with Mattel have issued an apology to parents in Western New York for a new label on their “Wicked” inspired Barbie dolls. The new movie featuring Ariana Grande is set to be released on Nov. 22nd but the website on the toy boxes directs users to an adult website. Officials with Mattel offered an apology to parents who already bought the toys and are expected to re-box new toys before they get shipped out.
5 –The Buffalo Sabres extended their win streak to 3 games with a win over Calgary on Saturday at KeyBank Center. The Sabres won in the shootout 3-2 over the Flames and head coach Lindy Ruff said the team has found ways to win games during the streak. The Sabres are back home today to take on Montreal. The puck is set to drop at 12:30 this afternoon.
6 –Who would of thought Western New York is full of Million dollar homes, but the 70th million dollar or more home of the year was sold last week. That home was a newly built home in Orchard Park and sold for just over $1 million dollars. The most expensive home sold in Western New York in 2024 was 50 Tudor Place, which sold for $4.25 million. The 97-year-old mansion set a record for the highest sale price for a home in the city.
