Here are today's trending stories in Western New York.

1 –You might need to warm up your car again this morning as it is another cold start across Western New York. In fact, there is a Frost Advisory in place for the Northern parts of Western New York until 10 am this morning. The good news is that temperatures will get into the upper 60s today which is about 5-10 degrees warmer than average for this time of the year. That warming trend will continue into the weekend as well.

2 – The Buffalo Sabres rough start to the season continued last night as they fell to Columbus 6-4 on the road. Sabres head coach Lindy Ruff said the team wasn’t ready in 1st period and got outplayed. Another number that will make Sabre fans cringe is that the team is 0 for 17 in the Powerplay so far this season. Up next for the Sabres is another road game tomorrow against the Chicago Blackhawks.

3 – This weekend Foreigner will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and then you will have a chance to see them play live at the Erie County Fair next year. Foreigner will perform at the Erie County Fair on August 7th. Lead singer Lou Gramm is from Rochester so this is like a mini homecoming. Tickets to the show will go on sale next year in June.

4 – We made it to Friday and there are plenty of events happening around Western New York this weekend, tomorrow grab the kids and head to Boo at the Zoo. Christian from the Buffalo Zoo said there will be a lot of activities for the kids and parents, The Buffalo Bills return home after three straight weeks of road games, so join us for the “We Are Buffalo” tailgate on Sunday morning located at Prohibition 20/20 on the corner of Southwestern and Abbot road and of course join me for Free Bar Bingo at Bloomfield’s pub in Depew. 5- Will we see the newest Buffalo Bills Amari Cooper on the field this Sunday? Bills head coach Sean McDermott said it is not 100% that Cooper will play, QB Josh Allen said that even if Cooper plays, he will try to make sure everyone eats. Kickoff is set for 1 pm and you can watch the game locally on WIVB Channel 4.

6- No one claimed the Powerball jackpot on Wednesday making tomorrow’s drawing a near record-breaking one. The current jackpot is up to $437 million dollars which would be the 2nd largest lottery jackpot ever won by a New York resident. The current record was set in April 2023, when Johnnie Taylor won $478 million dollars playing the Mega Millions. The drawing for the Powerball will take place tomorrow at 10:59 pm.

7- If you don’t want to cook this Thanksgiving just know there will be several restaurants located around Western New York that will be open for lunch or dinner. Now is the time to make plans and reservations at Restaurants like Salvatore’s, Texas de Brazil, or the restaurants at the Seneca Niagara Casinos. They will all be open on Thanksgiving Day, you can also plan on heading over the border as most Canadian restaurants will be open as well since they celebrated their Thanksgiving earlier this week.
