Friday’s Trending Stories In Western New York
Here is what's happening around the 716 for your Friday.
1 – Give yourself some extra time this morning to head to work or school this morning. We have a mix of snow and rain for much of Western New York and that will make things much slower this morning than normal. A winter weather advisory is in place for Wyoming, Chautauqua, Cattaraugus, and Allegany counties until Noon today. Otherwise, most of Western New York will be dealing with rain and a high near 41.
2 - The Buffalo Bills are off this week, but they could be AFC East Champs before they take the 1st snap of their next game. They will host the 49ers on December 1st for Sunday Night Football, but if the other AFC East teams lose their games this week and next week, the Bills could already have clinched the AFC East before they play. Right now the Bills have a 5 game lead over Miami for the AFC East title.
3 - We made it to the weekend and there are plenty of things to do. You can bring the kids out to meet Santa Claus tomorrow afternoon at Clayton Toys in Williamsville. He will be there from 2-4 pm and you can get a free photo and sign up to win great prizes like tickets to see the Greater Niagara Ballet Company’s production of the Nutcracker, Tomorrow you can be transported to the 90s, as C&C Music Factory will be playing at Showplace Theater, Freedom Williams said you will hear all your favorite 90s song, and of course tonight you can join me for free adult bar bingo at Bloomfield’s Pub in Depew. You can win lots of great prizes like movie tickets, gift cards, and tickets to the C&C Music Factory concert. Bingo happened between 5-7 pm.
4 – Thousands of drivers in the city of Buffalo are getting fines in the mail for illegally passing school buses. This year, the Buffalo School District teamed up with a company to place cameras on school buses to catch people illegally passing school buses. Over 16,000 tickets have been issued since cameras were installed in Buses earlier this year.
5– A simple trick could help lower your heating bills this winter. If you have ceiling fans in your home you need to make sure the blades are rotating in the right direction to push the warm air down onto you. The blades should be spinning clockwise, this will allow the fan to push the warm air down instead of sucking it up. Most fans have a button that you can switch to change the way the blades spin.
