Here Is What’s Happening In Western New York: Friday Edition
Here are today's top trending stories in Western New York.
1-The morning commute will be much easier this morning than yesterday as we are not expecting any heavy snowfall for the ride in. The winter weather advisories have expired for almost all of Western New York. Chautauqua and Cattaraugus Counties are still under a Lake Effect snow warning until tomorrow morning. An additional 6- 12 inches of lake effect snow could fall in those areas over the next 24 hours.
2- The Buffalo Sabres woes at home continued last night as they fell to the Winnipeg Jets 3-2 in overtime. The Sabres have yet to win on their current 5-game home stand. They will be back at KeyBank Center to host Utah tomorrow afternoon at 1 pm.
3- There is a lot happening across Western New York this weekend. The festival of lights kicks off at the Hamburg Fairgrounds tonight and will go on until the end of the month. Tomorrow SantaCon returns back to Downtown Buffalo, Tony Mastrangelo, one of the co-founders said it is a good time for a great cause and you will see a lot going on. Money raised for the event will help the Boys and Girls Clubs of the Northtowns and of course, you can play FREE Adult Bar Bingo tonight at Bloomfield’s Pub in Depew from 5-7 pm. There will be lots of great prizes to win including movie passes and tickets to see West of The Mark’s Christmas concert tomorrow night.
4- Longtime new anchor Don Postles is calling it quits this month. Postles has been a TV news anchor for over 30 years and has worked for all three TV stations in Buffalo. He has been with WIVB Channel four since 1993 and his last news cast will be on December 19th. Jackie Walker who co-anchored with Don for over 20 years stepped away from anchoring duties earlier this year.

5- The snow this week has brought some good news for area skiers and snowboarders. Both Holiday Valley and Kissing Bridge are set to be open this weekend. Holiday Valley will have 8 trails open today while Kissing Bridge will have a “Soft opening” this Saturday and Sunday.
6- The Big man is back in Buffalo this week. Santa Claus returns to Western New York on Saturday for a special meet and greet at Adam's Nursery & Garden Center in Lancaster. Kids can get a free picture with Santa and play Christmas games for prizes. Adults can sign up to win tickets to the Greater Niagara Ballet Company's Nutcracker performance next weekend, pick out a Christmas Tree, and shop at Adams Christmas shop, which is full of amazing ornaments and decorations!
