Here Is What’s Happening In Western New York: Thursday Edition

1 – Today will be a decent day weather-wise across Western New York. We do have a wind advisory in place for Chautauqua County until 10 am and we could see wind gusts up to 60 miles per hour, otherwise, today will be a mix of sun and clouds with some rain expected to move in later this evening. Our high will be around 55.

2 – This weekend might be the calm before the storm as we could see our first Lake Effect snowstorm sweep across Western New York next week. Early weather models are calling for lake effect snow storms for parts of Western New York starting next Thursday and heading into the weekend. There could be up to 12 inches of snow down in the Southern Tier to several inches of snow in the rest of the 716. Now is the perfect time to make sure all your winter gear is ready to go.

4 – This is not great news for Bills Mafia. The Bills are hosting the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs this Sunday at Highmark Stadium and many people think the refs are biased towards the Chiefs already but this Sunday it could be even worst. The referee assigned to the game is Land Clark and the Chiefs are 5-0 when he is the head ref in the game. Also, Clark has a history of penalizing the home team more than the visitors. 5 –Millions of New Yorkers will be getting a paid raise soon. Another automatic increase to the minimum wage in New York State is coming on January 1^st. The minimum wage is set to increase by 50 cents from $15 per hour to $15.50 per hour. This will be the second of three increases to the minimum wage in New York since 2024. Starting in 2027, New York’s minimum wage will be tied to the inflation index to better represent current economic conditions.

6 – Former NFL Superstar Rob Gronkowski was inducted into the Buffalo Sports Hall of Fame this week and he had some very nice words about the City of Buffalo and growing up in Western New York. He said he got his toughness from growing up here. Even though he played for the hated New England Patriots, Gronk said he grew up a Bills fan and now that he is retired, he is rooting for them again.
