If you’ve driven down Seneca Street in South Buffalo recently, you might’ve noticed a lot of activity around a former bank just up the street from the Blackthorn.

The site of a former bank, this beige-colored brick building will soon be bustling as the city’s newest music venue, The Caz.

“The Caz is a brand-new live entertainment venue redefining the scene in the heart of South Buffalo,” according to the venue’s website. “Savor delicious food from our full-service kitchen, enjoy drinks from two bars, and take in the views from our elevated mezzanine. Our lineup showcases local talent and national touring acts, making The Caz the new destination for unforgettable live shows.”

The Caz is set to open next month, kicking off with local alt rock group Johnny Hart and the Mess and support from The Brass Machine on October 17. Tickets are on sale now.

On the outside, the building has gorgeous details, including a repeating series of patterned stained glass windows with a pale blue, yellow, and clear starburst design along the front and sides of the building that is also featured inside the venue. There are additional beautiful details on the external columns and on the high ceilings inside.

A small sneak peek into the venue reveals a beautiful space, with jewel-tone colors adorning the walls and a strong sense of potential for this place to be a really special room to see a concert.

“Built in 1921, this building was originally home to the South Side Bank before merging with Liberty Bank in 1929. It continued as a bank through various mergers until 2006,” the venue says. “Architecturally inspired by Louis Sullivan’s ‘jewel box’ designs, it showcases Art Nouveau terracotta ornamentation on a Neoclassical base. Acquired and repurposed in 2017, the building reflects a commitment to revitalization and preservation, central to South Buffalo’s cultural renaissance. With its stained-glass windows, terrazzo flooring, and original vaults intact, the space offers a perfect blend of history and modernity for a unique venue experience.”

The Caz is looking to hit the ground running with a lineup featuring local and touring acts once it opens its doors next month.

Other shows already announced for The Caz include Organ Fairchild with Road Waves on October 19; a cabaret-style show featuring David Jonathan & The Inner City Bedlam with Saranaide on October 25; the CAZ House Band featuring Eric Crittenden, Michael Farrow, Danielle A. Johnson, and Joey Lewis on October 26; a series of jazz brunches and free-to-join football watch parties, among other shows. The full list of already announced shows, stretching into December, is available here.

“We are dedicated to upholding the highest standards of hospitality and service, ensuring every guest, staff member, and artist is treated with respect and fairness,” the Caz says. “Transparency in pricing is central to our approach, as we aim to provide clear and honest communication at every step. Our commitment is to consistently deliver exceptional value to everyone involved—guests, team members, and musical artists alike—while fostering an environment that celebrates quality and community.”

Like other venues, The Caz will be cashless, but unlike other venues, each seat in the balcony and every patron on the main venue floor will have a dedicated QR code to use for ordering food and drinks, with the venue’s staffing bringin your items directly to you (with the option of ordering for pickup at the bar or service window).
