Here are the top headlines for your Friday in Western New York.
1 –We are going from the coldest day of the week to the nicest one today. We will wrap up the work week here in Western New York with some sunshine and mild temperatures. Today's high will be around 68 and it will be the warmest day of the week. The mild weather continues tomorrow before a cold front will bring rain, wind, and possible snowflakes to parts of Western New York on Sunday into early next week. Get out and enjoy the weather today and tomorrow.
2 –Did you see them last night? The Northern Lights? A geomagnetic storm is impacting the Earth’s Astrosphere and has pushed the southern boundary of the Northern Lights into Western New York. I have seen pictures from Hamburg, North Tonawanda, and Lackawanna and they are amazing. If you missed the Northern Lights last night, you should have another chance to see them tonight between 8 and 11 pm.
3- The Buffalo Sabres remain winless this season as they dropped their home opener to the LA Kings last night at KeyBank Center 3-1. After the game head coach Lindy Ruff said the team played well despite the final score. Up next for the Sabres is another home game tomorrow night against the Florida Panthers.

4– We made it to Friday and there are tons of things happening across Western New York this weekend. The Ellicottville Fall Fest takes place tomorrow and Sunday. The event runs from 10 am until 5 pm each day. Cider Fest happens Sunday at Noon at the Terrace in Delaware Park. You can sample tons of local ciders and there are activities for the whole family. And of course tonight there is FREE Bar Bingo at Bloomfield’s Pub in Depew. Stop in for their extended happy hour from 4 to 8 pm with free bar bingo from 5 to 7 pm.
5- If you think Josh Allen is one good-looking tall drink of water, you are not alone. The Buffalo Bills quarterback was recently named one of the sexiest quarterbacks in the NFL by People Magazine. Allen came in 8th over on the list. According to People Magazine, Cincinnati’s Joe Burrow is the sexiest QB in the league.

6- This weekend, officials with the United States Postal Office are warning up to not use those “big Blue” mailboxes. There has been an increase in the amount of thefts from those boxes on the weekend. Now that we are getting closer to the holidays and people are sending out cards with checks, cash, or gift cards, thieves are targeting these mailboxes since they are not checked on the weekend. Officials with the post office say the best thing to do on the weekend is drop off your mail at your local post office or wait until Monday to drop it in a “Big Blue” mailbox. Those boxes are cleared out every weekday but not on the weekend.
7- October snow is on the way and it looks like the Eastern part of the State is set to get plenty before the end of the month. A winter weather front is set to move across the state early next week and could bring some snow flurries here in Western New York, but up neat Tug Hill and Oswego the storm could dump over a foot of snow. If you are traveling east next week just know you could see some snow on the ground.
