Car Wash Made Famous By Goo Goo Dolls Revived
An East Side car wash that gained an international following - courtesy of the Goo Goo Dolls - is poised to make a comeback as a revived auto repair center.
Business Eric Johnson is proposing to convert the former Superstar Car Wash at 226 William St. into the Buffalo Auto Spa.
The conversion project is pending final City of Buffalo reviews and approvals - including from the Buffalo Planning Board - the project can move forward. The city’s Zoning Board of Appeals already approved the project, located at the corner of William and Pine Streets.
The one-story masonry building was home to Superstar Car Wash and was the name off the Goo Goo Dolls 1993 CD.
A photo of the William Street building was on the cover of the Goo Goo Dolls CD.
Buffalo Auto Spa is slated to open later this year or by early 2025, at the latest.
