What’s Happening In Western New York: Wednesday Edition

1 – This morning several news outlets are calling the Presidential election for former president Donald Trump. He gave his acceptance speech early this morning. According to the last Polls, Trump has secured the needed 270 electoral college votes with several swing states still up for grabs, but most polls have him winning those as well.
2 – There is a big change coming to the New York State Constitution as over 62% of New Yorkers voted to pass NY Prop #1 which adds language to be more inclusive to whom is protected by the state constitution. In Erie County, the proposed change to what is needed to vote on how sales tax money is spent failed. A super majority will still be needed to make any changes after that proposition failed.
3 – Cooler weather is on the way to Western New York. Say goodbye to the 70s we had yesterday and hello to the 50s and 60s. The good news is that the weather will still be well above average for this time of year. That is expected to change soon as the Old Farmer’s Almanac is predicting possible lake effect snow for parts of Western New York the week of November 20th. A massive arctic front is expected to bring snow to the 716 that week and into December.

4 – The NFL trade deadline came and went on Tuesday afternoon and the Buffalo Bills were quiet on the trade front, but a former fan favorite found a new home. Former 1st round draft pick Tre White was traded from the LA Rams to the Baltimore Ravens. That means Bills fans will have to wait to see him in action against Buffalo until the playoffs, the Bills take on the Rams on December 8th.
5 –The Buffalo Sabres scored another victory as they beat the Ottawa Senators 5-1 yesterday at KeyBank Center. The Sabres got goals from three different players including Tage Thompson. (audio). Up next for the Sabres is a road game against the New York Rangers tomorrow night.
6 – Someone in New York woke up this morning very Happy. The New York Lottery announced that there was one “Big Money” winning Lottery ticket sold in New York from last night’s Mega Millions drawing. That ticket matched four out of five numbers and the Megaball and won the 3rd place prize of $10,000. No one claimed the grand prize so Friday’s jackpot is now up to $334 million dollars.
