A Portland, Oregon-based operator of child care centers has acquired a Lancaster operation and is using it as its first foray into the Buffalo Niagara marketplace.

KinderCare Learning Cos. has purchased the former Children’s Castle daycare center at 3970 Walden Ave, and has started operating the facility under the Walden Avenue KinderCare moniker.

The center remains open and fully operational on its Monday through Friday weekday schedule.

Terms were not disclosed, however, according to a deed filed June 3 in the Erie County Clerk's office, Black Knight 24 LLC - a KinderCare Learning Cos. Affiliate paid $3,268,594 for the property, buying from Walden Acres LLC.

Founded in 1969, KinderCare Learning has more than 2,400 sites in 40 states. The company is privately held.

KinderCare Learning is scouting other regional sites for additional transactions.
