In one of the region’s largest retail-related transactions, the Union Consumer Square shopping center in Cheektowaga has been acquired by a downstate real estate investment group.

According to documents filed Oct. 24 in the Erie County Clerk's office, the 400,919-square-foot Union Consumer Square sold for $43.25 million with investors UCS TIC LLC, UCS TIC PRP LLC, and UCS TIC BMR Llc buying the 35-year-old shopping center from Union Consumer Improvements LLC, a New York City-based retail and real estate investment group.

The plaza, constructed on the site of the former Holiday Six movie theaters and Holiday Showcase restaurant, is anchored by such national chains as Marshall's, Sam’s Club, and Pet Supplies Plus.
